Pressure-treated wood can last for many years, but wooden fence posts have one weakness: exposed end grains.

Moisture seeping into the end grain can easily half the posts’ lifespan. Made from thick, highly durable and weatherproof plastic, our plastic post caps are UV and heat-resistant, impact-resistant and waterproof. There won’t be fading, cracking for years to come.

Make Sure to Measure Twice

It’s given that the posts’ nominal size differs from their actual size. And even then, it’s difficult to process wood to be the exact size down to the last millimeter.

For this reason, it’s important to measure all posts. You don’t need to measure that entire post, just the edges surrounding the end grain.

For the plastic fence post caps to fit, the edges around the post’s end grain should be approximately 3 5/8″ by 5 5/8″. If you need to make adjustments for the plastic caps to fit, ensure that the posts’ edges won’t go beyond the caps’ 1/2″ inner edge/lip. The caps’ slanting design is 1″ wide, making the total depth of the caps 1 1/4″.

The black caps will slip easily on top of the posts. Even when the post is a few millimeters bigger, the caps will flex enough to fit, but it won’t stretch further.

There are 4 options in securing the caps to the posts: tape, nails, screws and adhesive.

For tape, stick some mounting tape inside the cap and then snap on.For both nails and screws, you’ll need to drill a pilot hole in at least two sides of the caps.If using an adhesive, ensure that said adhesive will bond on both plastic and wood.
